North Bethesda Contemporary Kitchen

Signature Kitchens, Additions & Baths, a leading home design firm serving North Bethesda, MD recently finished this contemporary kitchen remodel. The first big gathering in the new kitchen took place at Thanksgiving, when 27 friends and relatives came to the Sailers’ home to enjoy a meal together. “It was the first time we were able to get everybody in the kitchen together without people having to sit on the floor,” Caroline Sailer said. “We were absolutely thrilled.”

The new, contemporary kitchen came after years of the Sailers trying to decide how and when to remodel their kitchen. They had always talked about it but put it aside, until last year when they decided to make the investment. The Sailers hired a design company to show them a drawing but weren’t impressed with the result. “It looked fine,” Caroline said, “but my husband and I just weren’t as impressed as we wanted to be.”

Contemporary Kitchen Design

After a little while the homeowners decided to try another design company, but again were unimpressed by the resulting designs. “And then it wasn’t until Ellyn said that she would show us what she could come up with that we thought about the kitchen again.” Ellyn Gutridge, one of Signature’s kitchen designers, was at first unsure of showing the Sailers her contemporary kitchen design because it was so different from what they’d been looking at before.

“We were absolutely thrilled with Ellyn’s design,” Caroline said. “That design clinched it for us – even though we hadn’t known it before, it was absolutely what we wanted. It coalesced both my husband’s and my visions of our new kitchen perfectly.”

The Kitchen Remodeling Process

As for the kitchen remodeling process itself, “we felt very comfortable about everybody in the showroom,” Caroline said, “as well as the business relationship, Signature’s relationship with the suppliers, and their access to the quality design elements we knew we wanted.”

“We’re both out of the house most of the day, so I was uncertain about a construction crew coming in. But after meeting Elmer and his crew, I felt very comfortable, and throughout the process I was impressed with how responsible they were.”
