Signature Kitchens, Additions & Baths, an outstanding bath & kitchen remodeling contractor serving Bethesda, and metro DC, recently finished this glamorous remodel in Bethesda. Custom kitchen cabinets were used with a mixture of stained & painted cabinetry.
The homeowners were very unhappy with their builder grade oak kitchen cabinets with that ridiculous sofit above 30″ wall cabinets that we have all discovered contains at best a single pipe. They were tired of the tedious inefficiencies in the design & a complete absence of style. Lisa the homeowner said” It was functional you could put your dishes away, but inefficient, the existing kitchen cabinet design did not do a good job of utilizing the large space it occupied.” Lisa went on “We wanted custom kitchen cabinets that were personalized to fit our needs, and appropriate to our Bethesda home. We did not want to lose a future home purchaser, or get a substandard price, when we choose to sell the house.”
Once Lisa & Dan decided they were going to remodel their Bethesda kitchen, they wanted to go all out. “We looked at it as an opportunity to create our dream,” the homeowner Lisa Schneiderman said, “and that’s what we did!” Lisa continued “The old kitchen design seemed at odds with the rest of the house. We bought a relatively large expensive house in Bethesda, the kitchen design always seemed like it was meant for a more modest home… somewhere else. Not appropriate for Bethesda” from the outset Lisa and Dan wanted a kitchen remodel that included custom white kitchen cabinets, on the perimeter and black, espresso or a dark kitchen cabinet island. A classic & timeless combo.
Beyond basic ideas, Lisa and Dan were unsure of exactly how to achieve their kitchen remodel. They began researching kitchen remodeling contractors, in Bethesda & kitchen designers. One of the kitchen remodel companies they found was Signature Kitchens, Additions & Baths’. “We ended up choosing to work with Signature for two reasons,” Lisa said. “Signature’s website was very helpful – it was easy to use and it had a lot of information. The site asks design & specification questions which I was already asking myself and then helps you find the answers.” Lisa and Dan also felt that Signature had the best showroom of all the bath & kitchen design showrooms in Bethesda or Rockville. “It was great going to the kitchen design showroom because I could finally see all the materials and design choices in person and not have to just look at pictures online. The kitchen designer & I would design pallets of tile, flooring and cabinet doors. This was a fun & collaborative process that works like magic. Before you know it you go from I don’t know where to begin, to deciding between pallets, to remarkable confidence.”
Lisa and her designer worked together closely for several weeks, going back and forth between possible kitchen concepts. The budget was not “whatever it takes” there were limitations frankly the budget was a challenge for a very very large space.
Signature Kitchens Additions & Baths represents three kitchen cabinet manufacturers:
Dura Supreme Custom Kitchen Cabinets, an exclusive relationship.
Medallion Cabinetry a very broad semi-custom cabinets line.
Jay Rambo Custom Kitchen Cabinets and more an exclusive relationship.
Each offers framed or frameless with interchangeable doors. Each offers plywood or furniture board or a mixture of the two. The focus for Lisa & Dan was on Signature’s bread and butter line Medallion semi custom kitchen cabinets,.
“Signature has a design software Chief Architect which renders the conceptual drawings so realistically that you can see each concept as though it had already been built” said Lisa “Rockville is not far. The kitchen design showrooms displays are huge! They have over 100 kitchen cabinet doors.” “The missing link for a long time was the granite counter top. It had to be strong & we just were not sure,” Lisa said. “Our kitchen designer recognized this was difficult for us, she kept looking and eventually found the perfect slabs, after that everything just clicked into place.”
This Bethesda kitchen remodel started in September and was complete by Thanksgiving. “Elmer one of a dozen Signature Kitchens Additions & Baths craftsmen was our lead carpenter. He is an exceptional craftsmen and the kitchen remodel would not have been as beautiful if it were not for him” Said Lisa “The crew was always neat, clean, and quite. The other interesting thing about Elmer & Fernando. They have to be the quietest two men I have ever met. I mean they rarely spoke. They were on the job every day until it was finished which was one of Dan’s big concerns.”
