It may even become a classic if it continues to be popular. Oh…wait it already is a decorative classic. It’s not called Navy Blue for nothing. It’s simply new to cabinetry. In the 1980’s no one thought of painting cabinets Navy Blue they were too in love with yellow oak. Thank goodness that is over.
Coupled with shades of white, gray paint or light to medium brown stains Navy Blue can be stunning. It pairs well with almost any color. Navy and taupe make a great combo. Another primary trend is the softening of metal finishes in kitchen cabinet hardware for example brass is back but its brushed brass a warm gold look. Well Navy blue and warm brass are as classic a combination as your ever going to get. Think Nautical.
Navy Blue works well in traditional, transitional & contemporary design with any neutral color tones such as taupe, gray, beige and of course white.
In all our cabinet lines we can have cabinetry kitchen or bathroom painted Navy Blue or any other color you would like. Typically Navy Blue has been a decorative accent. Perhaps Navy Blue or Cobalt Blue is part of the back splash with a decorative wall cabinet at the end of a run being pained the same color. This could then be extended to throw pillows, seat cushions, plates and other decorative elements.
Navy Blue has become so popular one of our kitchen designers Roz Renberg CKD has recently designed two kitchens one in Washington DC a salt white perimeter with a navy blue island the other a small Chevy Chase MD kitchen in navy blue.
If you are afraid this trend will fade then simply don’t over do it. Bring Navy Blue in as an accent on the chairs or upholstery of the booth seating.
Sometimes a hot color can be used in a subtle way for great effect. Here the blue is under the counter top, the back panel of the kitchen island. Navy Blue is available in framed or frame-less cabinetry.
