Challenges & Solutions Mclean VA kitchen remodel
Like many houses from the 1950’s the rooms tend to be small and boxy. Designer and owner in this case wanted everything opened up an open floor plan kitchen. The knee wall between foyer and living room was re-framed. The wall between foyer and kitchen as well as the dining room kitchen partition was largely done away with. A pass through was added. A new Mahogany entry door was installed. The gas line was re-run to the peninsula island. The movement of all these walls required some relocation of duct and registers as well as quite a lot of electric work.

According to Wikipedia Mclean VA received its name from John Roll McLean, who at one time owned The Washington Post. He along with Stephen Benton Elkins and French aristocrat Jean-Pierre Guenard, built in 1906 the electrified Great Falls and Old Dominion Railway, which connected the area with Washington, D.C. McLean named a railroad station after himself where the rail line crossed the old Chain Bridge Road. The community itself was founded in 1910, when the communities of Lewinsville and Langley merged.
