North Bethesda Kitchen Remodel | Signature Kitchens Additions & Baths
Kitchen Remodel Testimonial
Ellen | Hi, my name’s Ellen Gutridge, and I’m a designer at Signature Kitchens, Additions and Baths. And today I’m sitting here with a friend of mine and a client. So I’d like to introduce Caroline Sailor. Hi. |
Caroline | Hi. How are you? |
Ellen | Good. so, it’s December right after Thanksgiving, so I know that was big. Caroline has a very large family. So how many people did you have? |
Caroline | We ended up having for Thanksgiving, probably 27 people. |
Ellen | All in the kitchen? |
Caroline | All in the kitchen. It was the first time that we’ve actually been able to get everybody, including kids, in the kitchen to celebrate dinner, which was really wonderful. |
Ellen | Without bumping into each other. |
Caroline | Yeah, and without people on the floor. It was great. It was one of the biggest gatherings we’ve had since the kitchen has been done and I was absolutely thrilled. It worked out great. |
Ellen |
Good. I’m glad to hear it. Now, I hate to bring this up, but I know because you’re a friend of mine, that you had a couple other designs that you had seen before you decided to go with Signature. |
Caroline | We did. |
Ellen | Tell us a little bit about that. |
Caroline | Last year we actually hired another design company to come in and do a design for us. I had some ideas of what I wanted. JD had some ideas of what he wanted, but neither one of us had a clear vision of — this is definitely what we wanted. I knew things I did not want. |
Ellen | Right. |
Caroline |
So we got to this design company come in and they drew up plans for us. And honestly, the plans looked fine, but there was nothing… Neither one of us loved it and it just, we kind of put it aside for the moment. And then earlier this year, at the beginning of the year, we had another company who had done my friend’s kitchen come in and look, and they did a design for us. And it was the same thing. It was different than the first design. And it looked perfectly nice and it was certainly an improvement to what we had. But, there was nothing fantastic about it. So, just, we sat on it again. And it really wasn’t until I spoke with you in the spring and you said, well, why don’t you take a look at and see what I can come up with. And the design you came up with clinched it. We decided that was… Even though we didn’t know at the time, that was absolutely what we wanted to do. |
Ellen | Yeah. And it was… I remember being a little unsure about showing it to you because of was so different than anything. |
Caroline | It was. |
Ellen |
— that we had talked about before. So earlier we were talking about your existing kitchen, and some of the vision you had in terms of how you wanted it to be, but — what really made you decide to go forward with the process? |
Caroline |
Well, honestly, Ellen, it was your design, when you brought the design to us. And this was before we can even visited you at Signature and the showroom. We, JD and I absolutely loved your design. I mean, it really coalesced both of our visions in what we thought we wanted and what we thought we could accomplish with the kitchen. And then when we came in to talk to you in the showroom, and meeting the other designers and Gary, the owner, everything about it felt right. It was the first time after meeting with the other two design shops that we thought everything worked. We loved the design. I knew I would enjoy working with you and we felt very comfortable with everybody else in the showroom and comfortable about the business relationship and your relationships with the suppliers and our access to all the quality design elements we knew we wanted. So it worked. I had a lot of uncertainty about how a construction crew coming in while we were gone because they did major demolition with the wall, and most of the time we weren’t going to be home. But after meeting Elmer and his crew, I felt very comfortable. And throughout the whole process I was very impressed with how responsible they were. And one of the things that’s important to me is having people clean up after themselves. And Elmer and Fernando and the other guys were great about, we would come home at the end of the day and honestly, other than the fact that there was maybe the mess in the kitchen, they did a great job of putting things away where they needed to be and I never really felt through the whole process that the house was unlivable. |
Ellen | It was a pleasure working with you. I loved it. It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to come to more parties. |
