Bathroom Design & Remodel in Rockville, MD
Inverness Ridge Road Rockville MD 20850
Rockville Maryland Design Build Contractor
When Ann Willis and her husband, John Grigg, contacted Signature Kitchens Additions & Baths for design remodeling assistance for their cramped master bathroom, it was not the first time they worked with the firm. Signature Kitchens Additions & Baths is a leading design build contractor in Rockville, MD, and the couple had previously used the firm to remodel their kitchen, front hallway and bathroom. With successfully executed projects completed, the couple did not have to think twice about using Signature Kitchens Additions & Baths for their most latest project.
The SituationThe couple originally purchased their 1970s townhouse located at 8088 Inverness Ridge Road in Rockville, MD, several years ago. This neighborhood known as Inverness Forest in Rockville or Potomac (depending on who you talk to) is comprised of town & single family homes located off Seven Locks Road. Their house has a unique architectural style that the couple loved, but it also had functional and style issues that the couple planned to address through various remodeling projects. During the most recent project, the couple worked with one of Signature’s skilled project designers to improve the function and style of their master bathroom. This is the same designer who assisted them with the previous two projects, and the couple had developed a great rapport with her. The existing master bathroom had builder-grade materials that were several decades old, and it was in desperate need of a makeover. More than that, it had an outer vanity dressing area that lacked the storage space the couple needed. The inner bathroom space was also very small, and featured a four-foot prefab shower, a 24-inch wide pedestal sink and a toilet. Generally, it was outdated in style and was too cramped for two people to comfortably share the space.
Design Build Contractor Creating a Beautiful Design
The designer at Signature Kitchens Additions & Baths worked with the couple to determine their goals and needs. While updating the style was a priority, the couple also wanted to work with a Rockville MD design build contractor to improve the functionality and accessibility of the space. Their goals included expanding the entrances to the bathroom and adding seating in the shower area. While space in the couple’s master bathroom was limited, the experience and skills of the designer prevailed. She successfully created a design that incorporated all aspects of the couple’s wish list without taking away space from the other rooms.
How the Design Build Goals Were Accomplished
At first glance, the couple seemed to have an impossible design situation, but the designer at Signature Kitchens Additions & Baths was up for the task. This Rockville bathroom remodeling contractor redesigned the two separate areas to create a larger and more functional space. All of the separating doors and walls were removed. This provided the designer with ample space to add cabinetry with more storage space that the couple desperately needed in the bathroom. The pedestal sink was removed, and there was now space for a second sink with additional counter space. In addition, a 30-inch wide wall vanity was installed. Enlarging the space in this fashion also enabled space for the installation of a traditional five-foot long shower with a flip-up shower seat. Additional space was freed up in the design by installing a corner toilet… in the corner of the room. The end result provided a more open, flowing floor plan. It solved the spatial and storage challenges the homeowners faced.

Design Build Contractor DC MD & Va gets glowing customer testimonial
Grigg Willis had this to say “We contracted with the design build firm Signature Kitchens Additions & Baths to gut and remodel our master bath. This was our third project with Signature. Originally, in 2010 we hired them to remodel our Kitchen, front hallway and powder room. We liked working with them and I still love the results. Then in June 2013 we hired them again to remodel our guest bathroom. It turned out beautifully and this year in 2014 we hired them to remodel our master bath. |The master bath project was challenging because of the small space. Ellyn, our designer for all three projects, worked up several configurations to make the best use of the space. The team measured several times before they were satisfied that everything would fit in the tight space. Once demolition began, they realized that there was significant damage to the sub-floor and they needed to replace all of the plywood base flooring. The construction team worked through the issues and even found space to lengthen the shower to make it feel less confining. The quality of the work was outstanding and once again the resulting space is beautiful. My only regret is that I have no more rooms that need to be remodeled. We have enjoyed working with Gary and his team immensely. If I had more remodeling to do I would use them again.”
